Under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos, with the participation of Environment, Energy and Climate Change Minister Yiannis Maniatis, an interministerial meeting of the Foreign Ministry and the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Ministry took place today on issues including preparation for the granting of permits for exploration for and extraction of hydrocarbons in Greek maritime zones, and issues related to policy on liquefied natural gas pipelines and storage facilities.
The meeting also looked at issues concerning the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) and the prospects for creating alternative routes, such as the Aegean-Baltic central corridor.
Finally, special reference was made to the pivotal nature of the national infrastructure at Revithoussa and the prospect for its upgrading, not only for Greece, but also for the overall regional energy policy of the European Union.
