Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos met at the Foreign Ministry today, Wednesday, 15 October, with former Swedish Prime Minister Göran Persson.
Mr. Venizelos briefed Mr. Persson on the state of the Greek economy and the efforts Greece is making to exit the crisis. Mr. Persson, who, as Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Sweden, successfully handled his country’s economic crisis in the 1990s, praised the Greek government for its reforms and fiscal achievements.
The meeting also included a discussion of the main issues facing the European Union and the Eurozone, as well as of the worrying developments in the wider region of Southeast Europe and the Middle East.
