Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos made the following statement in response to a journalist’s question on today’s announcement from the Russian Federation regarding measures impacting imports of food and agricultural products:
JOURNALIST: One issue, Mr. President, is the Russian embargo on European products. How will this impact the Greek agricultural economy, and what measures need to be taken?
E. VENIZELOS: The decisions Russia, President Putin, has made are decisions that concern the whole of the western world: the EU, the U.S., Canada, Australia. We are in ongoing contact to ensure the smallest possible impact or, if possible, no practical impact at all. I don’t want to say right now what process we are in the midst of. As a country of the European Union – a country that meets its community obligations – we try to have the best possible relations with all countries, and we are trying to protect Greek agricultural production.
