Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos made the following statement regarding the formation of the Palestinian national unity government:
“We look forward to the continuation of our traditionally close bilateral cooperation with the new Palestinian government under Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, and we encourage every constructive effort that contributes to the promotion of the peace process, which presupposes the honoring of the Quartet principles, including, of course, recognition of the state of Israel.
In this direction, we welcome President Abbas’s assurances that the new government accepts all the relevant agreements.”
