Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos will participate on Monday, 12 May, in the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC), in Brussels.
The FAC agenda includes the latest developments in Ukraine, with a discussion of the issues of broadening the legal basis for the sanction regime, support for the OSCE in the country, as well as the legal repercussions of the annexation of Crimea. Conclusions shall be adopted.
The FAC will then look at the Middle East peace process and Southern Neighbourhood Policy issues, on which a text of Conclusions will be adopted. The FAC will conclude with a working luncheon on European Neighbourhood Policy issues.
On the margins of the FAC, Mr. Venizelos will chair the EU-Albania Stability and Association Council.
On Tuesday, 13 May 2014, Mr. Venizelos will chair the EU General Affairs Council (GAC), which will look at the preparations for the June European Council, which is to focus on, among other things, growth, competitiveness and employment issues.
Mr. Venizelos will then be the keynote speaker at an event marking the 10th anniversary of the 2004 EU enlargement, and on the margins of the GAC, he will chair the EU-Algeria Stabilization and Association Council.
Finally, on Tuesday Mr. Venizelos will also participate in an Adriatic-Ionian Initiative (AII) Ministerial Meeting.
