Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos will participate on Tuesday and Wednesday, 22 and 23 July, in the proceedings of the EU Foreign Affairs and General Affairs Councils (FAC/GAC), in Brussels.
Tuesday’s FAC will look at the developments in Ukraine, the situation in the Gaza Strip and Israel, and recent events in Iraq. Mr. Venizelos will then participate in a meeting of EU Foreign Ministers with their counterparts from Eastern Partnership countries and attend a dinner being hosted by EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Catherine Ashton.
Mr. Venizelos will also take part in Wednesday’s GAC, the agenda for which includes the presentation of the work programme of the Italian Presidency of the Council of the EU, the European Semester, the mid-term review of the Europe 2020 strategy, and the accession of Lithuania to the Economic and Monetary Union.
Finally, also on Wednesday, Mr. Venizelos will participate in a Ministerial Meeting of member states of the European Union and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
