On the instructions of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos, an emergency meeting will be held at the Foreign Ministry at 14:00 today, Monday, 11 August, under Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas, on the issue of developments concerning the imposition of sanctions by the Russian Federation on imports of food and agricultural produce from the countries of the EU.
The meeting – which will be attended by the competent officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs; Finance; Development; and Rural Development and Food – will look at the repercussions so far from the imposition of measures banning the importing of agricultural products into Russia, as well as at ways of dealing with said repercussions. On Thursday, 14 August, experts from the 28 EU member states will meet in Brussels for an initial assessment of the impact of the ban.
