Foreign Minister N. Kotzias' statement to journalists on his departure from the venue of the International Conference on Cyprus (Crans-Montana, 4 July 2017)

JOURNALIST: Mr. Minister, what changed to bring the UN Secretary-General here on Thursday?

N. KOTZIAS: If you ask me, nothing. But it's good that he is coming. I'll say this: Today we had a discussion on the Treaty of Guarantee. We proved that its presence has to end, and we submitted ten questions regarding the Treaty of Alliance and the presence of Turkish occupation troops. And we are waiting for someone to respond to those questions. Most of the sides saw these questions as correct and as the only way for us to move forward. Because some of the sides are just circling the issues and we aren't getting anywhere. There are those who want the Prime Ministers to come. I answered them that, for the Prime Ministers to come, we have to have moved ahead. Because if they say that days have passed and the Prime Ministers have to come, I tell them that the Prime Ministers will come with this mindset: Days will go by again, and they'll say that the Presidents have to come. Have a good evening.
