It was a great pleasure for me to meet with His Beatitude, the wise Archbishop Chrysostomos. I am very pleased, following his health troubles, to find him stronger than ever. It always impresses me that, despite the years that pass, he is dynamic as ever. We discussed issues related to the Church, Christians, and Orthodoxy in general.
We discussed the Cyprus issue. We agree that the occupying forces must leave, and the Treaties of Guarantees and Alliance must be abolished. I briefed him on our thoughts, and I am leaving pleased, as always, and with a sense of safety and security.
