Foreign Minister N. Kotzias to participate in the 23rd OSCE Ministerial Council (Hamburg, 8-9 December 2016)

Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias will participate tomorrow in the 23rd Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), which is taking place in Hamburg on 8 and 9 December 2016.

During the Council proceedings, which will be presided over by the German OSCE chairmanship, there is to be an assessment of the Organization’s activities for the purpose of further strengthening cooperative security in Europe, and there will be a consideration of issues such as migration, combating terrorism, arms control and the fight against corruption.

Additionally, within the framework of the informal Ministers’ dinner (8 December), there will be a discussion of the potential for strengthening the dialogue on European security and enhancing the OSCE’s role in conflict prevention and resolution.

On the margins of the Council, two special events have been scheduled on the crisis in Ukraine and the existing prospects for the Conventional Arms Control regime.
