We express our extreme concern at the nuclear test carried out on 6 January in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. This test constitutes a threat to international peace and security and runs counter to UN Security Council resolutions and the international efforts towards disarmament and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea needs to comply with its international commitments, halt the production and testing of nuclear weapons, and return to the table of dialogue with the international community, particularly within the framework of the six-party talks.
