By decision of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos – and following the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, which allows for the operation of aid structures in the region – as a first step Greece is directly providing the sum of €500,000 to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) as a contribution to confronting the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
Through the European Union and the UNRWA, Greece also stated its readiness to receive and treat Palestinian wounded, particularly children.
