Foreign Ministry spokesperson Stratos Efthymiou's response to a journalist's question regarding a statement made today by the spokesperson for the Turkish Foreign Ministry

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Stratos Efthymiou, in response to a journalist's question regarding a statement made today by the spokesperson for the Turkish Foreign Ministry, stated the following:

"Turkey continues to mock the international community, issuing statements that prove that its audacity knows no bounds. In fact, it has reached the point of dubbing the intransigence it exhibited in Crans-Montana "constructive spirit".

The new cynical admission of the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mr. Çavuşoğlu, in the context of statements he made yesterday in Côte d'Ivoire – that it wasn't possible for Turkey to accept a "foolish proposal" that provided for the abolition of the "right" to unilateral intervention, abolition of the guarantees, and withdrawal of the Turkish occupation troops from Cyprus on a timeframe – is the greatest proof of Turkey's clear responsibility for the impasse at the Conference on Cyprus and the collapse of the talks."
