Promoting and supporting Greek Studies on an international level

The General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy is implementing a comprehensive strategy to support Chairs, Departments, and Programs of Greek Studies (Modern Greek and Classical) at higher education institutions abroad, with the aim of strengthening and promoting Greek studies internationally, as well as preserving Greek cultural heritage. It supports Chairs and Departments of Classical and Modern Greek Studies at universities around the world and works to establish new ones, with the aim of strengthening and promoting Greek language in Greece and abroad, organizing instruction for foreigners and members of the Greek diaspora, and producing materials for its promotion.

As part of a broader policy to strengthen Greek studies, the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy has developed a comprehensive long-term strategy aimed at promoting the Greek language, history, and culture. This strategy involves implementing initiatives at the academic level and making efforts to support as many university Chairs and Departments of Greek studies as possible in 2024, 2025, and 2026.
