On Wednesday, 29 July, the Working Group on Trade and Investments held a video conference in the context of the Greek-U.S. Strategic Dialogue, with both sides expressing their satisfaction with the progress made in the dialogue and their intention to deepen bilateral economic relations.
The conference proceedings were opened by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy, Kostas Fragogiannis, the US Ambassador to Greece, Geoffrey Pyatt, the Secretary-General for Coordination of Economic and Growth Policies, Vicky Loizou, and the President of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, Nikos Bakatselos. Conference participants on the Greek side included the Deputy Minister of Health, Vasilis Kontozamanis, the Secretary-General for Openness and President of Enterprise Greece, Grigoris Dimitriadis, the CEO of Enterprise Greece, Giorgos Filiopoulos, as well as officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Development and Investments, the Ministry of Digital Governance and the Ministry of Citizen Protection. Participants on the U.S. side included representatives of the State Department, the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, as well as officials of the U.S. Embassy.
During the conference, the topics discussed were the National Openness Strategy of Greece, prospects for U.S. investments at Elefsis Shipyards and the ports of Alexandroupoli and Kavala, the implementation of joint projects in the fields of Trade and Investments, as well as ongoing collaborations in Energy, Tourism, Research and Innovation, Scientific Diplomacy, 5G networks, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Cloud Technologies, use of technology applications to combat COVID-19, and development of initiatives to empower women in the workplace.
