Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos today, 25 September, chaired the proceedings of the informal meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of member states of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), which took place in New York. Greece holds the rotating Chairmanship of BSEC for the second half of 2014.
The first part of the meeting, in which European Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Commissioner Stefan Füle participated, concerned the promotion and deepening of practical cooperation between BSEC and the EU in various development sectors, a goal that is among the Hellenic Chairmanship’s priorities.
In the second half of the meeting, the participating Ministers and heads of the delegations of the 12 BSEC member states submitted their views and proposals for improving the functioning and effectiveness of BSEC, as the eminently competent regional agency for economic cooperation in the wider Black Sea region.
