In his interview on ERT1’s ‘Apo tis 6’, with Ioannis Pittaras, commenting on the new Turkish Navtex, Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis stressed that “Turkey must not behave like an unpredictable neighbour,” adding that “if Turkey wants to come closer to Europe, it should abandon the rhetoric of tension and desist from actions that are not conducive to de-escalation and good neighbourly relations.”
The Alternate Minister also pointed to the results of the latest European Council meeting, which underscore the need for sustained de-escalation and avoidance of unilateral actions by Turkey.
