Interview of Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis on OPEN TV, with journalists Spyros Haritatos and Giorgos Karameros - main points (7 April 2020)

In his interview on Open TV’s Open Ellada, with journalists Spyros Haritatos and Giorgos Karameros, Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis emphasised the need for the European Union to meet citizens’ request for solidarity and make bold decisions in support of the European economies.

He stressed that the measures taken by the Greek government to fight the COVID-19 pandemic were timely and effective, containing the spread of the virus in Greece so far. He added that the government’s goal is to preserve jobs and that the economic support package is being improved every day. He also noted that, on the European level, €100 billion has gone into the bank and is earmarked for supporting employment and maintaining existing labour relations through European programmes.
