In his interview on Proto Thema 104.6 radio, with journalists Babis Koutras and Nikos Felekis, Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis discussed the EU’s reaction to the coronavirus’s impact on the economy and the unprecedented European show of solidarity with Greece against Turkey’s weaponization of the migration issue.
He also underscored Greece and Europe’s common view of Erdogan’s blackmail, referring specifically to the Mitsotakis-Merkel meeting in Berlin.
Regarding the coronavirus’s impact on the economy and the EU’s reaction, Mr. Varvitsiotis highlighted that there must be additional “funding tools” without any asterisks. Regarding Greece, he stressed the need to reduce the primary surpluses and support tourism.
In a subsequent interview on Kanali 1 radio, with Nikos Bardounias, he commented that “the fact that we decided to close the schools, universities and tutoring schools shows that we are taking responsible action to limit the spread of the virus.”
