Deputy Foreign Minister Ioannis Amanatidis and Education, Research & Religious Affairs Minister Kostas Gavroglou met jointly with Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa.
During the meeting, which took place at Mr. Amanatidis’ office, with ministry officials in attendance, there was a discussion of issues concerning the educational and social activities of the Patriarchate of Alexandria that fall within the competencies of both the Ministry of Education, Research & Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In their statements, the Education Minister and the Deputy Foreign Minister praised the work of the Patriarchate, whose mission in Africa is of a special importance and nature, and they expressed their will to solve problems to facilitate and assist the Patriarchate’s inspiring work.
The Deputy Foreign Minister thanked Mr. Gavroglou for hosting the meeting and for his sensitivity to the problems of our Senior Patriarchates, expressing the support of the government and the Foreign Ministry, under Mr. Kotzias, for the missionary work being carried out on the African continent by Patriarch Theodoros of Alexandria.
