Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis met today with the EU Special Representative for the Belgrade – Pristina Dialogue, Miroslav Lajčák.
In particular, the two men discussed the full range of regional issues, focusing on ways to further strengthen the accession process, but also the path towards accession of the countries in the region. On this occasion, Alternate Minister briefed his interlocutor on the Greek initiatives in the region, in the context initiated by the Thessaloniki Conference (2003).
Mr. Varvitsiotis also noted that these countries should not be left out of the open dialogue of the Conference on the Future of Europe.
