Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias’ intervention during the parliamentary debate on the draft law “Determining the breadth of territorial waters in the maritime zone of the Ionian and the Ionian Islands up to Cape Tenaro in the Peloponnese” (Athens

Thank you Mr. Speaker, ladies and gentlemen MPs.

Pardon me for being necessarily brief. I won’t go on at length. I think that yesterday and today, the Prime Minister took a clear stance on Syriza’s continuing claims regarding multiple lines, different phrasings, and so on. I don’t think there’s any point; one says something once, twice. Beyond that, there’s no point in repetition. Everything has been said.

I just wanted to thank, to reiterate the Prime Minister’s clear summation on broadening the framework of national solidarity. I think that’s what we need to take away from this two-day session and the presentation in the Committee: the potential for Parties to come together to support the national interest.

In that way, it was an exceptional session, and I consider it an honour to have brought this legislation before Parliament on behalf of the Mitsotakis government.

Thank you very much.
