Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias to visit France and participate in a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (Paris, 15 June 2020)

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias is travelling to Paris today, 15 June, to meet with the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean Yves Le Drian.

The talks are expected to focus on bilateral, European and regional issues, with emphasis on the developments in the Middle East, the response to the coronavirus pandemic, attracting investments, the migration issue and the European perspective of the Western Balkans.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs will then take part, via teleconference and jointly with his French counterpart, in a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC). The European Ministers of Foreign Affairs will initially discuss with U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, about transatlantic cooperation in sectors of shared interest.


At Greece’s request, the FAC meeting will also include a discussion of Turkey’s violations in the Aegean and the Southeast Mediterranean, an issue that will also be raised in the EU Foreign Ministers’ talks with the U.S. Secretary of State.


Finally, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs will discuss preparation of the Sudan Partnership conference, which is set for 25 June.
