Ministry of Foreign Affairs announcement on the 21st anniversary of the passing of Giannos Kranidiotis

It has been 21 years since the untimely loss of Giannos Kranidiotis.

Giannos Kranidiotis was a visionary politician and great diplomat whose work continues to serve as a guide for Greek foreign policy.

A model of patriotic defence of the interests of Hellenism.

A symbol of the shared course of Greek and Cypriot Hellenism.

Throughout his short life, Giannos Kranidiotis served Hellenism conscientiously and selflessly, and he was one of the architects of the accession of the Republic of Cyprus to the European Union.

Today, 21 years after his death, and at a very difficult time for Hellenism, the ideas and work of Giannos Kranidiotis continue to constitute a source of inspiration in the ceaseless efforts of Greece and Cyprus towards a just and viable solution to the Cyprus problem and defence of Hellenism’s interests against the challenges it is facing.
