The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic welcomes the holding of the Normandy Four Summit in Paris on 9 December. We strongly encourage the parties to fully implement the measures agreed as they can contribute substantially to the stabilization of the situation on the ground and to developing a spirit of trust.
The Summit is an important step towards reaching a peaceful and lasting solution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine, through dialogue and in compliance with international law. It further creates a new dynamic towards the full implementation of the Minsk Agreements, which remain the only viable road map to end the conflict, to the benefit of regional peace and stability.
Greece, aligning itself fully with the Statement by the Spokesperson of the EEAS of 12 December 2019, reaffirms its strong support to the work of the Trilateral Contact Group and to the efforts by France and Germany in the Normandy format. We also express our deep appreciation to the efforts of the OSCE and its Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) which we believe should have safe and secure access throughout Ukraine, with a view to the implementation of its mandate to the full extent.
