The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alexandros Papaioannou, made the following statement in response to a journalist’s question on certain news reports:
“Distortion of statements crosses the line and becomes deliberate fake news.
Greece issued a NAVTEX for a French research vessel because the area is under Greek jurisdiction.
This is a clear statement from the Government spokesperson and the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, and it is not open to misinterpretation, however hard certain parties try to create false impressions.”
