The European Semester e-Conference on Greece provides an important opportunity to debate the crucial policies needed to ensure a resilient and sustainable return to growth for Greece and the EU through the Next Generation EU recovery strategy.
During the e-Conference held on the 2nd of July, 2020, the Secretary General for International Economic Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Enterprise Greece, Mr. Gregory Dimitriadis, highlighted the reforms needed for the Greek economy to become more competitive.
Mr. Dimitriadis focused on the necessary transformation of Economic Diplomacy into a modern and outward-looking tool that will “attract and facilitate Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and empower Greek companies to export”. In his address, he also outlined the new National Strategy for Trade and Investment Promotion a plan driven by international best practices and the agenda of Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
Finally, Mr. Dimitriadis highlighted how the EU’s new financial support package can be leveraged to fund further reforms. These reforms, he stressed, will engender “a sustainable and resilient economic recovery of the country and Europe, as a whole”.
