The deputy spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vasilis Koinis, made the following statement in response to a journalist’s question regarding the overflight of the government aircraft carrying Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias:
“In spite of the fact that the Greek side followed all necessary procedures for the government aircraft carrying Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias to transit Turkish airspace, the Turkish authorities once again acted in a provocative and totally unnecessary manner.
Their action reflects poorly on Turkey itself.
The Greek Embassy in Ankara has already proceeded to all appropriate diplomatic actions, requesting from the Turkish authorities that such unacceptable incidents do not occur again.”
