The Foreign Ministry’s Secretary General for International Economic Relations, Giorgos Tsipras, travelled to Moscow on Wednesday, 17 June 2015, for a series of meetings aimed at further strengthening bilateral economic and trade relations.
In Moscow, Mr. G. Tsipras met with the Secretary of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Ms. Valovaya, with whom he discussed issues bearing on the facilitation of investments and exports to countries of the wider region. He also met with the Greece’s Honorary Consul in Belarus, Mr. Topouzidis – with whom he discussed the prospects for further increasing Greek exports to Belarus and attracting tourists from Belarus to Greece – and with the Vice President of the Federation of Moscow Real Estate Agencies, Ms. Lupashko, with whom he discussed investment opportunities in the real estate sector. Finally, Mr. G. Tsipras held a meeting with personnel from the Greek Consulate General in Moscow regarding the policy on issuing visas for entry into Greece, in view of the current tourist season.
Mr. G. Tsipras then travelled to St. Petersburg, as a member of the official Greek delegation within the framework of the Prime Minister’s participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, where he met with the head of the AFK Sistema investment group, Mr. Chuikov, who expressed interest in participation in investment plans, mainly in the tourism sector.
Finally, within the framework of the Economic Forum Mr. G. Tsipras opened the proceedings of the roundtable on “Russia-Greece: Exploring new routes for economic cooperation” and coordinated the discussion at the roundtable on “The Eurasian Economic Union: A new compass in global economics.”
