On the margins of the 24th European Union-Gulf Cooperation Council Meeting, which took place in Doha on 24 May, the Greek delegation, headed by the Foreign Ministry’s Secretary General for International Economic Relations, Giorgos Tsipras, met with the Foreign Minister of Qatar, Dr. Khalid Bin Mohammed Al Attiya.
Mr. Tsipras reiterated the President of the Republic’s invitation for the Emir to visit Athens and conveyed to the Qatari side the Greek Prime Minister’s acceptance of their invitation to visit Doha. Moreover, he briefed his collocutor on Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias’ intention to travel to Qatar in the coming months.
The meeting looked at ways to upgrade bilateral cooperation between Greece and Qatar, with particular emphasis on the economic sector, primarily through strengthening investments. The Qatari Foreign Minister proposed a Qatari business mission to Athens within the year.
In the coming days, the Greek delegation will have meetings with institutional officials and entrepreneurs, with the aim of attracting investments.
