Statement of Secretary General for Int’l Economic Relations & Development Cooperation P. Mihalos within the framework of the 10th anniversary meeting of the World Public Forum’s “Dialogue of Nations”

“I have the good fortune to be participating in this wonderful dialogue of cultures, which was organized by the World Public Forum, and the honor of representing Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos.

The beautiful island of Rhodes is at the crossroads of three continents and the traces various cultures have left on the island are immediately visible; traces that, in combination with unrivalled natural beauty, comprise a wonderful and world-famous destination.

We are going through a difficult time, as everyone knows: climate change, economic turmoil, a constantly shifting political environment, poverty and hunger, xenophobia. Nevertheless, the new challenges that have arisen as a result of the global financial crisis present us with a unique opportunity. This lies in our forging innovative approaches that reflect the vision and political will to achieve and promote cooperation based on dialogue, mutual understanding and respect.”
