“To reiterate my statement before Parliament, our Government's commitment to legality is a given, non-negotiable fact. The tender was investigated both at the judicial level, by the Council of State and the Court of Audit, and in the context of internal administrative scrutiny carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These controls found no procedural or substantive illegalities with respect to the queries set forth in the relevant written question. All the documents requested were submitted to Parliament.
The documents Mr. Kammenos produced were made available to the Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for any actions within its remit, and will be directly forwarded to the competent public prosecutor for a criminal assessment regarding both their content and the manner in which they were obtained. Beyond the foregoing self-evident facts, I would like to stress my complete confidence in the staff of our Ministry, and I must declare that I consider any targeting of its officials to be inexcusable. Everyone must respect the rule of law”.
