The Hellenic Diplomatic Academy (HDA) has recently become a member of the International Forum on Diplomatic Training (IFDT), a renowned international network, founded in 1972, which, today, brings together more than 80 educational institutions and diplomatic academies from all over the world.
The Forum's annual meetings, hosted on a rotating basis by its members, provide a dynamic platform for exchanging of views, experiences and best practices. The agenda focuses mainly on contemporary issues on diplomacy, as well as developments and challenges related to the diplomatic training.
The Director of the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna and the Director of the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy at the Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University serve as permanent co-chairs.
HDA’s participation in the IFDT was the result of constructive discussions held between the HDA Director, Ambassador Michael Diamessis, and the Austrian Ambassador Martina Schubert, Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, during a recent official visit to the Austrian capital.
This is an important step towards strengthening HDA’s international presence, as well as its networking with corresponding institutions and agencies abroad, offering new perspectives for cooperation and exchange, as well as opportunities for enriching and expanding its training programmes.
