UNESCO ratifies the operation of the Category II Centre on Integrated and Multidisciplinary Water Resources Management at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

UNESCO proceeded, through a relevant letter, to mark the entry into force of the agreement on the operation of a UNESCO Category II Centre on Integrated and Multidisciplinary Water Resources Management at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

This development is the culmination of the signing of the Final Agreement on the establishment a UNESCO Category II Centre on Water Resources Management, which was signed last September, at the Foreign Ministry, in the presence of UNESCO's Assistant Director-General for the Natural Sciences, Flavia Schlegel, and Deputy Foreign Minister Ioannis Amanatidis.

Mr. Amanatidis was briefed today, Thursday, 23 February, on the content of the letter -- which marks the official entry into operation of the Centre -- by the President of the Centre on Integrated Water Resources Management (CIWRM) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Elpida Kolokytha.

Mr. Amanatidis congratulated all of the involved entities on this successful outcome, which strengthens the international agency of the country and of the city of Thessaloniki, as the site of the Centre's activities.
