Webinar on " The importance of transparency in international business transactions: current challenges and new developments” with the participation of the Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis (01.07.2021)

A webinar on "The importance of transparency in international business transactions: current challenges and new developments" will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at 12.00. The webinar is co-organized by the Office of the Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, the Secretariat General for International Economic Affairs and Openness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Transparency Authority.

The webinar will address the topics of the international legal framework, the challenges for Greek businesses in the light of the new developments arising from the internationalization of business transactions, as well as the reforms that Greece has made in recent years in the fight against corruption, in line with the OECD recommendations.

Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis will open the proceedings of the webinar, while the Secretary General for International Economic Affairs and Openness, Ioannis Smirlis, and the Governor of the National Transparency Authority, Angelos Binis, will deliver addresses. Academic Maria Gavouneli, national representative of Greece in the OECD Working Group on Bribery will provide details on the current international legal framework. Specialized officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other public bodies will brief participants on information and support mechanisms for Greek businesses abroad. The president of the Greek Exporters Association (SEVE), George Konstantopoulos, as well as executives from businesses engaged in export activities will participate in the webinar, on behalf of the business community.

The webinar, which will be moderated by ERT TV journalist Fanis Papathanasiou, will stream live on the National Transparency Authority's youtube channel and the Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs' Facebook page.
