Written statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, following his meetings with representatives of parliamentary parties (Athens, 15 October 2020)

Today, I had the opportunity to brief the representatives of the parliamentary parties on the developments in our foreign policy.

I went over everything that has happened recently, concerning Turkey’s escalating illegal activities in the Aegean, which are exacerbating the climate and increasing tensions in the region.

I also set out all actions taken by Greek diplomacy – the demarches and the briefing of our allies and partners in the EU Foreign Affairs Council, highlighting Turkey’s role as disruptor not only of every effort towards progress in our bilateral relations, but also of regional stability.

The role of the insincere interlocutor that declares its readiness for dialogue, belying this declaration through its actions.

Today I found, once again, that there is national consensus on the key aspects of our national issues.

This is our most important asset when responding to external provocations.

Our country will not be intimidated.

Always within the framework of international legality, a united Greece is ready and able to meet any challenge.
