The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the recent Houthi attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which constitute a serious threat to regional peace and stability, as well as to the safety of civilians.

Greece expresses its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and reiterates its unequivocal opposition to attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure. All attacks are unacceptable and must cease immediately, including those targeting commercial shipping in the Red Sea.

The freedom and safety of navigation must be fully respected, in accordance with International Law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Greece remains firmly committed to regional and maritime security, including through its leading role in the EU maritime security operation EUNAVFOR ASPIDES.
