Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Konstantinos Vlasis participates in the first video conference of Greek, Cypriot and Egyptian doctors (17 July 2020)

In the context of the Greece-Cyprus-Egypt trilateral cooperation scheme and the ‘NOSTOS’ programme, and following up on the new alternative initiatives undertaken due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, the first video conference of doctors of Greek, Cypriot and Egyptian origin who live and work abroad or in their countries was held today, Friday, 17 July. Participants in the video conference included the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, K. Vlasis, the Cypriot Presidential Commissioner for Humanitarian Issues and Overseas Cypriots, F. Fotiou, and the Egyptian Minister of Immigration and Expatriates Affairs, N. Makram.

The Greek Deputy Minister remarked on the importance of reliable National Health Systems to respond to the health challenges of our times, and praised the tremendous efforts and invaluable services that medical, nursing and scientific staff offered and continue to offer. He made specific reference to the research being conducted across the globe in order to find a vaccine, and focused on the importance of establishing synergies for the exchange of know-how, good practices and experiences in developments concerning Covid-19. Mr Vlasis underlined the exceptional level of cooperation among the three countries, with today's video conference among its results, and referred to the enrichment of the activities of the ‘NOSTOS’ programme being planned, aiming at further deepening relations among Greece, Cyprus and Egypt.
