Interview of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kostas Fragogiannis on Boston’s Greek community radio programme, ‘Grecian Echoes’, with journalist Stamatis Astras (Boston, 30 September 2019)

Visiting Boston on 29 and 30 September, the Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy and Openness, Kostas Fragogiannis, noted in his interview on ‘Grecian Echoes’, a Greek community radio programme, the momentum the election of the new government has imparted to the country and the immediacy of the actions aimed at promoting the country’s openness.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, who accompanied the Prime Minister to New York for the High-Level Week of the 74th UN General Assembly, referred to the meetings he participated in with political leaders and the business community of the U.S., underscoring “how welcome Greece was as a destination for investments and business endeavours being planned for the immediate future.”

“The political stability, the economic growth in our region and the social cohesion, in combination with the human capital that exists in Greece, are reasons why many American companies are choosing to invest in our country. Right now there is momentum, a fair wind, I would say, that is blowing and has brought an investment-friendly policy from this new government, which is committed to implementing its programme,” the Deputy Foreign Minister said, responding to "Grecian Echoes" journalist Stamatis Astras.

Finally, the Deputy Foreign Minister noted that “we are considering the possibility of establishing – in addition to our existing consular and economic diplomacy services – what we call scientific diplomacy, which will link the Greek and American scientific communities. To link Greeks and entrepreneurship in Greece with entrepreneurship in America, thus creating opportunities for scientific synergies that interest both sides, the Greek American and Greek academic communities, to facilitate their efforts and help them achieve their visions and goals.”
