The 9th International, "Our Ocean Conference", concluded today in Athens, marking the international community's protection and special care for the oceans and seas.
This Conference, which is the largest international conference ever hosted by our country, was attended by more than 130 delegations from states, non-governmental organizations and international organizations.
The conference, which received special attention from the Prime Minister and the government's presidency, was a success both organizationally and substantively.
It highlighted the great significance that the international community should place on environmental protection, especially on the protection of seas and oceans, amidst multiple crises.
In particular, I would like to emphasize that the participants committed to approximately 500 actions. Additionally, the total amount of commitments exceeded 11.5 billion dollars, directly related to investments in the oceans and seas.
On the organizational part, I would like to point out the excellent cooperation among all relevant Greek state agencies and services. In particular, I would like to commend the Ministry of Foreign Affairs staff and services, who worked tirelessly and meticulously to accomplish an extremely complex and challenging task, due to the large scale of the conference.
Future generations should inherit a worthy marine environment that sould be sustainable and healthy.
