We are in Cyprus today for the Informal Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs. It is important to discuss, today more than ever, in the midst of multiple crises and global hostility, the issue of the European Union's strategic autonomy.
Strategic autonomy signifies competitiveness, but competitiveness with cohesion and convergence. It signifies energy and defence resilience. And of course, it signifies solidarity, solidarity among all states, so that the European alliance can be strengthened and acquire the power and force that befit it.
I would particularly like to highlight the need, within the framework of strategic autonomy, to develop a 360-degree policy that addresses the world as a whole, especially the Global South.
Today, we will have the opportunity to discuss the issues that concern us with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia and India, two countries of critical importance with which Greece maintains a strategic relationship.
I would like to emphasize the need for universal respect for International Law. No attempt targeting civilian infrastructure, no attempt targeting civilians can be tolerated.
Likewise, we should all articulate a single, strong voice against any revisionism. Revisionism in an extremely fragile geopolitical environment is cause for much greater concern. It effectively amounts to the creation of global tensions to the detriment of citizens across the world.
Thank you.
