On this day, October 24, 1945, the United Nations, the guardian of international peace and security, was founded.
Greece, one of the founding member states of the UN, supports the Organization’s role in promoting international peace through diplomacy and deliberation. It consistently pursues a principled foreign policy, prioritizing respect for international law and the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter.
At this critical juncture, when peace is under threat, Greece remains committed to the conviction that the United Nations must serve its universal purpose of peaceful resolution of disputes and full respect for international law and human rights.
