The Service of Diplomatic and Historical Archives (YDIA) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presents its new publication entitled “Greece Liberated: Recognition and Establishment of Diplomatic and Consular Relations". In essence, the volume is the catalog of the exhibition of the same title presented by YDIA in Greece and abroad on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the Greek Revolution.
The publication presents documents from the historical archives of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs that describe the course of recognition of the new Greek State by the existing States during, and in the first years after, the Greek Struggle for Independence, the establishment of diplomatic and consular relations with them and the creation of a consular network.
The publication aims to highlight some of the important moments of the Greek diplomatic history of the Revolution and the first years of the new independent Greek state through the original research conducted by YDIA.
The volume is bilingual (in Greek and English). The National Printing House carried out the final editing and printing, and the graphic editing was done with the support of the SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver.
