“Turkey appears to be nervous because it sees Greece arming itself. We strengthen our alliances and shield our country with modern Armed Forces”, stressed Alternate Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis in an interview with Giorgos Meligonis on the prime-time newscast of KONTRA channel, on Tuesday evening, following recent statements made by Turkish officials.
On the occasion of the Special Balkan Forum for the Western Balkans and the Future of Europe, which will take place on September 15 in Thessaloniki, Mr. Varvitsiotis spoke about current European issues today in an interview with Konstantinos Margaritis and Haris Pavlidis on KANALI ENA 90.4 FM radio station.
Commenting on the progress of the Conference on the Future of Europe, the Alternate Minister pointed out that the European Union has taken very decisive steps in recent years and, while we are used to throwing stones at it, it is moving forward.
Referring to the management of the pandemic, Brexit, and the Recovery and Resilience Facility, he noted that the time has come to ask European citizens which direction they want Europe to go. “During this process, Brussels should remain silent and let EU citizens speak. We are trying to mobilize society to participate”.
Asked about the Digital Nomads Visa, which was introduced at his initiative last week, with the aim to attract digital nomads, he commented that Greece is a leader in the field; it is the third country in the EU to try to reach out to this youth workforce that has emerged as a result of the crisis. He also commented that, without a doubt, there is a demand and that, if internet speed in Greece improves, our country will become attractive for this new generation of workers. He also stressed that this visa is part of the wider Blue Carpet Policy for extroversion, which includes the facilitation of entry into the country of entrepreneurs, students, and now high-level workers from third countries.
